HONORING OUR ROOTS

Before founding Walsh, Long & Company, Marion Long was already making waves in the petroleum equipment industry. As co-founder of Viking Corp, she helped grow a small nozzle manufacturer into a global supplier—leading sales, building distributor networks, and driving innovation.
After Viking, Marion moved on to Girard-Bruns, where she continued working in petroleum equipment sales. It was there that she met Ed Walsh—someone who shared her drive, integrity, and vision for a more focused, service-driven rep agency.
Together, they launched Walsh, Long & Company in 1990. Though Ed sadly passed within the first year, Marion pressed forward—determined to build the business.
In 1993, her husband, Mike, joined the company, bringing engineering expertise that expanded their capabilities and strengthened their technical reputation.
Then in 1999, Marion’s son, Chris, came on board as operations manager. He streamlined the structure of the agency, elevated the brand, and significantly contributed to growth.
With just one product line in two states, Marion laid the groundwork for what would become a respected agency that would later represent 25 manufacturers across 15 states. Her entrepreneurial spirit and relentless drive still echo in everything we do today.
This post honors those bold beginnings—and the woman who helped shape them.
THE NEXT GENERATION OF LEADERSHIP

Erik Long officially joined Walsh, Long & Company in 2007, but his exposure to the petroleum equipment industry began long before that—growing up in his parents’ business, Viking Corp. He and his younger brother, Chris, were hands-on from a young age—assembling fuel nozzle parts as kids and watching the family business evolve.
After building his career in corporate America, Erik chose to come home—to the business his family built. In 2013, Erik purchased the company, with a vision to build on the foundation his mother laid. Under his leadership, Walsh, Long has grown far beyond its roots—expanding its product lines and entering new markets, like lighting and mission critical facilities, while continuing to be a trusted resource in petroleum and automotive.
Today, Erik continues to work alongside his brother Chris, who oversees operations, IT, and accounting—the backbone that keeps the business running smoothly.
From its beginnings as a family-run agency to a multi-market manufacturers’ rep firm, the legacy continues through the next generation.
